Default icon for pendrive is pretty common are changing it can make you look like a hero to others :D , The process i'm about to show you know , in this process after the change , where ever you take your pen drive and plug it , the OS will show your custom icon there , like Below:
STEP 1. Put your icon file (.ico) in the root of your Flash drive. (example: k:icon_name.ico)
STEP 2. The Removal Drives icon you do want to change, Open a new Text file in the root/main window.

STEP 3. Write this two lines :
[autorun]
icon=icon_name.ico
Icon_name can be any icon but the icon has to be in that drive .
STEP 4. Save The File as autorun.inf , in the drive which's icon you want to change now (example: K:\).
You are done now, for visual purpose only you can make the inf and the ico file hidden and read only , Now plug out your device and plug in , there you go , you have custom icon for your pen drive :D .To change the HDD icons take a look at this post , to change , ROM icon and label try this post .
